ABOUT LESLIE Leslie is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has been living in San Diego for a long time. Though she misses her family, she loves the great climate and easy-going mood of California living. The natural beauty, varied architecture, people of many backgrounds and creative culture all inspire Leslie in her artistic expression. Leslie has a background in child development, working with the elderly and hospitality, and is currently in an art therapy program at San Diego University of Integrative Studies. LESLIE'S ART Leslie has been taking art classes at the Athenaeum Art Studio in La Jolla for several years. Last year she was involved in three group shows in San Diego. The first one, held at On Sight Studios, was curated by her art instructor Rivian Butikofer and the gallery. This exhibition, called “Sixteen Plus One,” included Rivian and all the students in her art class at the Athenaeum. Leslie was also in two juried shows at the La Jolla Library. One of the shows was “New Directions In Art.” The other was her first photography show, in which the subject was pictures of the library. Leslie's entry was called, “Reading Can Be Beautiful.” Leslie recalls: "I was so happy to be able to show my works of art there along with so many wonderful artists." Leslie is grateful to have discovered art as a means of self-expression, personal identity and working through emotions and issues.
ARTISTIC INFLUENCES AND FINALLY... "I'm grateful to all those who have inspired me. I hope you take the time to look around my website, and that something inspires you to take your own creative journey, whether it's in visual arts, photography, music, writing or any other expressive arts." |
